Hidalgo

Today I went to see “Hidalgo” in the cinema. The movie leaves a good feeling after you’ve seen it, but it is not particularly capturing while you are at it.

Firstly, there was a lot of “foreign talk”. I mean there were few people talking arabic, some indian dialect and maybe some other language. The only subtitles available were greek, so I don’t know if there were any english ones originally. Some of these talks were a bit longish without much point. That leaves you at the stage of trying to entertain yourself for awhile. Secondly, the movie is rather shallow. The story is simple. So is the acting. There are no special effects (or maybe just a few), and the film lacks action. It’s also rather long – 3 hours with no break.

The good feeling that it leaves in you (or at least in me) might be built upon few nice scenery shots and animal care throughout the film. If these don’t touch you, then you probably should skip it alltogether. :)

The Official Ninja Webpage

Mega NinjaMy first reaction, when I got to The Official Ninja Webpage, was to close the browser tab. But my mouse jerked and I couldn’t hit the close button immediately, so I stayed for few moments.

Aparently, this is site is some fun! :) It reminds me of myself about 10 years ago…

I heard that there was this ninja who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the ninja killed the whole town.My friend Mark said that he saw a ninja totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.

There is all sorts of stuff – stories, movie scripts, flash clips, hate mail, and what not. This guy is pretty cool… :)

Cyprus as it was in 1879

I’ve stambled upon an interesting book at Project Gutenberg. The book is called “Cyprus. As I Saw It In 1879” and it is written by by Sir Samuel White Baker.

Those who don’t like reading books, can imagine this text as a blog of this Samuel White Baker guy. It is an good set of travelling notes, that includes descriptions of the places and people, notes on politics and economy, as well as observations and statistics.
