It’s been a while since I pointed you, my dear reader, to the Big Picture blog. I had to catch up with it myself. While browsing through the horrible pictures of refugees and natural disasters, all of which are very sad and pessimistic, I came across a beautiful collection of images that capture the signs of this year’s spring coming. It is these images – peaceful, beautiful, breathtaking – that I want to share with you.

I love photography. For me, it’s like painting, but better. And more accurate. And unlike painting, I can actually participate. I am not a big success or great master by any means. But I enjoy taking pictures. I also enjoy looking at other people work and sometimes sharing it. When I do, this is the category that I use.

Cyprus photography by Brian JC Osbourne
I came across Brian JC Osbourne’s portfolio in one of the Cyprus-related Flickr groups. There are only just a few pictures, and most of them have a simplistic, village even, feel to them. Yet, I did enjoy them quite a bit. The choice of subjects and post-processing filters match the Cyprus atmosphere nicely.

Frankfurt and Karlsruhe photos
In November 2009 I went for a PHP conference in Karlsruhe, Germany. I’ve also visited Frankfurt briefly. As with most of my travels, I’ve shot a whole bunch of pictures. But unlike my other travel pictures, these ones were waiting for post-processing for way too long. Yesterday I abandoned the hope of ever editing them and started to upload them as-is. Maybe one day I’ll be back to level the horizons, crop, resize, and correct colours. Until then, I’m too scared they will just get lost.
I’ve organized these images into two separate sets: Frankfurt and Karlsruhe.
I’m too lazy to dig through my archives, but I’ve probably mentioned a few times that I enjoyed myself over there, that I like travelling through Germany, and that that PHP conference was a blast. And if you don’t believe me, you can always ask Chris and Michael who accompanied me on that trip.
