Scary Movie 2

Watched “Scary Movie 2” on the DVD. One word – hilarious. This time the story is based on “The Haunting“, which apparently was on TV yesterday. Sweet reminder. Other movies that were pretty recognizable and funny did include “Charlie’s Angels“, “Hannibal“, “Mission: Impossible II“, “The Shining“. Recommended.

Monster

Went to the movies to see “Monster“. IMDB does show a somewhat good rating for it – 7.5/10, but neither Olga, nor I liked it. Something is missing from the movie. The story is interesting and original, even boasted to be based on the real one. Acting is nice. Soundtrack is OK. But there is nothing disturbing about the movie. Maybe we were just in the wrong mood. Or maybe because they made Charlize Theron (“The Italian Job“) so visually horrible that she was spoiling the movie. Christina Ricci (“The Addams Family“) was a cutie though. Stupid, psychologically damaged, but cute. :)

Gigli

Having nothing better to do, watched “Gigli” on DVD, which turned out to be a much better movie then IMDB was rating it. Well, it was not something I would defenetely recommend, but it was a rather OK movie. The plot was rather boring with no action what-so-ever, but acting was very well done at times.

Few moments that stand out are:

  • Jennifer Lopez getting in Ben Affleck’s apartment
  • Jennifer’s and Ben’s sex talk over yoga
  • Al Pacino’s monolog (as usual)

These three scenes make this movie worse watching during the boring night, before yet another Friday. :)

The Medallion

Just watched “The Medallion” on DVD. Before I watched it, I was a bit disappointed that I missed it in the movies. Now that I did see it, I am kind of glad that it came out three times cheeper on me.

Being a fan of Jackie Chan it’s kind of difficult for me to add another movie that sucked to the list of one item (“The Tuxedo“). “The Medallion” sucked. Big time. It’s a slow movie which as obvious as other Jackie’s movies, but has no action at all compared to his other masterpieces. I’ve seen him on TV explaining that he tried to merge the best of Asian culture and American culture, but this didn’t work very well in the “Medallion”. I hope he would get back to his butt-kicking Asian movies that rock my world. :)

Scary Movie 3

Just came back from watching Scary Movie 3. It was much funnier then I thought it would be. Actually it was pretty laughy. The only minus is that the number of jokes per minute was going down from the start. They should have reversed that. But the first 15 minutes I was laughing a lot.

Here is a list of movies that I’ve recognized and remembered until now. “Signs” and “The Ring” were a kind of the base for the plot. “The Sixth Sense” played a part. Matrix Trilogy came in with Architect, Oracle and Morpheous. Eminem from the “8 Mile“. Breifly, “The Lord of the Rings” with Gollum’s “precioius”. There were few other parts that I couldn’t be sure, like all the President stuff could have been easily based on “Mars Attacks!“.
