Watermelon art

Since Lev is against blogging alltogether while having plenty of cool stuff to post, I’ll use these opportunities to gain some more fans for my blog. ;)

Today he send me a link to these pictures of amazing things that Chinese artists do with watermelons. Unbelievable! This is yet another proof to the theory that real artists don’t depend on the media – they can express themselves using absolutely anthing and everything they can find.

This stuff also looks very original and I think they can make a lot of money doing it. VIP party decorations come to mind…

4th dimension

Today I have been preparing both bedrooms for the painting and bleaching session tomorrow. One of the things that I always get surprised by is how many things are there around me that I don’t notice. Computer room didn’t have much stuff at the first glance – just a couple of tables with couple of computers and a cubboard. It took me few hours to move everything to the living room. Fan, chairs, kilometers of cable, books, penguin toys, CDs… The funny thing is that living room was totally filled with stuff. That’s pretty impressive considering the fact that I have given away one of the tables, sold one computer, and thrown away more than 100 kilos of crap.

For years now I had only one explanation for this wonder – 4th dimension. When all the space in the 3rd dimension is occupied, things start to fall into the 4th one. When I try to bring them back, they take much more space.

Self-defense against a stick

If you’ve been watching Monty Python trying to learn how to defend yourself against an attacker with a pointy stick, you probably had a good laugh, but never learned the technique. Well, here is a nice explanation with pictures how defend yourself using a walking stick or an umbrella. Not, by any means, as funny as Monty Python’s episode, but way more useful (read: does not involve guns, tigers, or 16 tunn weights).

Palm Island Jumeirah, United Arab Emirates

Palm Island JumeirahApparently, there is a project for development of three palm-shaped islands in the Gulf of Arabia, not far from Dubai. The first island is almost ready and people will start inhabiting it this year already. There is more information over here.

It must be a hell of an engineering project. And of course it should have been pretty tough financially. Nice way to boost country’s coastline though…
