How is that possible? I watched a movie less than a year ago and all I can remember is that I watched it. And I haven’t blogged about it. And it is about the only movie about firefighters that I’ve seen in my life. And both Joaquin Phoenix and John Travolta are in it, so it must have been pretty hard to forget. I guess my memory plays tricks on me. Fixing the holes, I rewatched “Ladder 49”

This film has an interesting story with lots and lots of firefighting episodes. And firefighting episodes is about the only thing that I want to see in the firefighting movie. There was some good acting and overall nice atmosphere about and in the film.
Soundtrack was OK more or less. Camera was on its average.
What I really liked about this film was the ending.
NOTE: Spoiler ahead!
The ending practically spells is out: if you are going to play with fire you are going to get hurt. Well, no. Actually this was spelled by the whole film. The ending said that if are going to play firefighter you have a pretty good chance to die. With ugly death too.
It also nicely reminds, in a background kind of way, that many people don’t appreciate what they have until they lose it. Too many things we take for granted – good job, good family, good friends, good advice.
Hopefully, now I will remember this film. And the morals too.
