Vacation request

Today I have requested vacations from August 23 till August 31. Hazard, Olga, and I are planning to go to Paphos again. We liked it a lot last year.

I have 21 days off to burn until the end of the year. I’ve just asked for 7. My mother is planning to come for a week or to in about September. And I will need few days to wrap around Christmas and New Year. So far it all adds up.

Update (26 July 2004 11:15pm): I have changed my request to be from 13th of August until 31st of August, since my mother will be also coming to Cyprus. Now all I need is a granted permission from the management. :)

Bash.org – best quotes from IRC

IRC Keyboard

IRC is a lot of fun. Bash.org can give a good idea of how much fun IRC is. Quote Database Home is hosted there. Basically, it is a huge moderated collection of hilarious quotes from a number of conversations. You can vote your favourite ones up or down. You can also complain about a really stupid ones. But I promise you that you will not find a lot of those. Mostly it’s funny.

The Turing Archive for the History of Computing

If you have just finished reading Cryptonomicon (like me) or you are just interested in nobel deeds of Alan Turing, you will find “The Turing Archive for the History of Computing” website (or simply alanturing.net) interesting.

Apart from being an extensive collection of documents this site has also an interesting way of presenting them. Instead of retyping and reformatting everything, they simply allow you to read and navigate through the scans. Click here for example. Such way of presenting things adds to the historic and important feeling…

404 Research Lab

404

404 is the code for the “Not found” error that web users get so often. Everyone knows it. What everyone doesn’t know is that 404 error messages are completely customizable. Rarely they are changed, but if they are – it can be a lot of fun. People at 404 Research Lab collect and study the 404 pages. They have them all categorized. They have even a pick of the week for the lazy ones.
