Today I had some free time on my hands, so I tried something that I was planning to do for a long time – properly move away from mbox to Maildir for email storage.

It took me a bit more time than I thought it will, but I have done everything properly with migration of all messages and archives (about 50K emails) and local IMAP server. I have done it on my office workstation, where I am the only user, but the procedure is very scalable and will work fine on any number of users. I am planning to repeat it on the home server which is used by a number of people.

DNS stuff is an excellent collection of DNS and other online network tools. WHOIS, traceroutes, pings, spam checks and more – it’s all there.

I wish they would have minimized the number of forms to one or two though. :)

Slashdot is running a post with a link to an excellent article about KDE.

Be careful though – if you have a fresh version of KDE installed, this article might result in you playing with your desktop for the rest of the working day. :)

“Computer Languages History” is in excellent website devoted to…well…history of computer programming languages. Currently, it lists about 50 programming languages with links to language websites.

There is also an excellent timeline, which shows the relationships between different programming languages starting with Fortran in November 1954 and ending with PHP of May 1st, 2004.

Obviously, it is an ongoing project, so updates should follow with new versions released.
