I told you I was catching up, didn’t I? “Meet the Fockers” was next on my list.

My rating: 6.8 [rate 6.8]
I didn’t want to see this film when it came out. With time I heard more and more good words about it, although its IMDB rating was crawling up slowly. Today I had a choice between watching “Road Trip” and “Meet the Fockers”. And I saw “Road Trip” about 100 times already, so I figured why not to try something new.
The film was worth it. It wasn’t very good or exceptional or anything else like it. But it was mildly good. I think that it was the cast that saved it. Either one of Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman can save a bad movie with good acting. Here they were both together. Some compensation went for Ben Stiller, but there was Barbra Streisand provided a good reinforcement.
The story was of course as simple and predictable as it could have been expected. No twists. But the film wasn’t about the story. It was about people and about fun. With all the good actors, the people side was covered. And there were enough jokes to keep me entertained. Some even made me chuckle.
Recommendation: if you have a choice, get something else. But if you are looking for something light and easy or you forgot your ToWatch list at home and the only film your DVD master offers you is “Meet the Fockers”, then don’t be afraid and take it. It’s not that bad.
