Today I’ve completed the second stage (out of three) in upgrading my home server. First one was upgrading Red Hat Linux 7.3 to Red Hat Linux 9.0. Today, I’ve upgraded the hardware. Now it runs on the Intel Celeron 1.2GHz processor with 256MB of RAM. Upgrade was as simple as moving a bit of hardware around. No reconfiguration needed at all. Red Hat detected all hardware changes just fine. <\/p>\n
During the next stage I will move most of the hard disks out of this machine and in to the old hardware, which will be my home file server. That will allow me to upgrade hard disk space easily in the future. <\/p>\n
