Ergophobia<\/b>, (derived from the\u00a0Greek<\/a>\u00a0“ergon” (work) and “phobos” (fear); also called\u00a0ergasiophobia<\/b>), is an abnormal and persistent\u00a0fear<\/a>\u00a0(or\u00a0phobia<\/a>) of\u00a0work<\/a>\u00a0(manual labor<\/a>,\u00a0non-manual labour<\/a>, etc) or finding\u00a0employment<\/a>. Ergophobia may also be a subset of eithersocial phobia<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0performance anxiety<\/a>. Sufferers of ergophobia experience undue anxiety about the workplace environment even though they realize their fear is irrational. Their fear may actually be a combination of fears, such as\u00a0fear<\/a>\u00a0of failing at assigned tasks, speaking before groups at work (both of which are types of performance anxiety), socializing with co-workers (a type of social phobia), and other fears of emotional, psychological and\/or physiological injuries.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
