{"id":16370,"date":"2012-07-02T11:52:38","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T09:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/?p=16370"},"modified":"2012-07-02T11:52:38","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T09:52:38","slug":"flash-for-android-no-more-or-is-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/2012\/07\/02\/flash-for-android-no-more-or-is-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Flash for Android no more, or is it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.slashdot.org\/story\/12\/06\/29\/1214231\/adobe-stops-flash-player-support-for-android\">Slashdot reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Adobe has finally seen the same light Steve Jobs did in 2010 and is now committed to putting mobile Flash player in the history books as soon as possible.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/flashplayer\/2012\/06\/flash-player-and-android-update.html\">Adobe will not develop and test Flash player for Android 4.1<\/a>\u00a0and will now focus on a PC browsing and apps.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But we&#8217;ve heard quite a few announcements from Adobe and Google in regards to Flash in the last few month. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know about you, but I am practically lost in the controversy. \u00a0Between Adobe releasing the <a href=\"http:\/\/linux.slashdot.org\/story\/12\/03\/31\/1417245\/adobe-releases-last-linux-version-of-flash-player\">last version of Flash for Linux<\/a>, Adobe releasing a <a href=\"http:\/\/news.slashdot.org\/story\/12\/06\/08\/1853259\/adobe-releases-sandboxed-flash-player-for-firefox\">sandbox version of Flash for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox<\/a>, and Google releasing <a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.slashdot.org\/story\/12\/02\/07\/1852212\/google-releases-chrome-for-android-beta\">Google Chrome for Android<\/a>, I have no clue anymore.<\/p>\n<p>The best I can make of it is that Adobe doesn&#8217;t want to support mobile or Linux anymore. \u00a0But Google takes over with its own Flash support integrated into the Google Chrome browser, which Google supports on all desktop platforms, as well as on iOS and Android devices. \u00a0So even without the Adobe we should still be able to access Flash games, porn, and navigation menus.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think? \u00a0Are we about to lose Flash, and if we are, what&#8217;s the alternative?<\/p>\n<p>P.S.: As much as I love the idea of HTML5, I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s just there yet.<\/p>\n<!-- google_ad_section_end -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>Slashdot reports: Adobe has finally seen the same light Steve Jobs did in 2010 and is now committed to putting mobile Flash player in the history books as soon as possible.\u00a0Adobe will not develop and test Flash player for Android 4.1\u00a0and will now focus on a PC browsing and apps.
