{"id":11211,"date":"2008-06-01T12:56:52","date_gmt":"2008-06-01T09:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/?p=11211"},"modified":"2008-06-01T12:56:52","modified_gmt":"2008-06-01T09:56:52","slug":"how-much-for-wordpress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/2008\/06\/01\/how-much-for-wordpress\/","title":{"rendered":"How much for WordPress?"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>The other day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloggingpro.com\/\">Bloggin Pro<\/a> posted a question &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloggingpro.com\/archives\/2008\/05\/12\/would-you-pay-for-wordpress-and-how-much\/\">Would You Pay for WordPress and How Much?<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 Of course, I&#8217;ve already mentioned that <a title=\"What would you pay for?\" href=\"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/2008\/05\/12\/what-would-you-pay-for\/\">I have no problem paying for WordPress<\/a>.\u00a0 How much?\u00a0 Well, I think that around $50 per installation is a fair price.\u00a0 But that is not for me to decide.<\/p>\n<p>I thing I keep thinking about though.\u00a0 A big part of what WordPress is, is it&#8217;s freedom. Anyone can get it. Anyone can use it for whatever they want.\u00a0 Anyone can modify it.\u00a0 And a lot of people do.\u00a0 If WordPress will ever become commercial software, it will greatly decrease the amount of people who use it, test it, and develop for it.\u00a0 And with that, the value of WordPress will stop growing as it is now.\u00a0 Once the value of it will stop growing as it is now, a lot of people will reconsider their answer to the question &#8220;Are you prepared to pay for WordPress?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Gladly, Matt and the rest of the Automattic gang seem to clearly understand that.<\/p>\n<!-- google_ad_section_end -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>The other day Bloggin Pro posted a question &#8220;Would You Pay for WordPress and How Much?&#8220;.\u00a0 Of course, I&#8217;ve already mentioned that I have no problem paying for WordPress.\u00a0 How much?\u00a0 Well, I think that around $50 per installation is a fair price.\u00a0 But that is not for me to decide.
