{"id":11197,"date":"2008-05-14T01:23:05","date_gmt":"2008-05-13T22:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/?p=11197"},"modified":"2008-05-14T01:23:05","modified_gmt":"2008-05-13T22:23:05","slug":"psd-slicing-service-recommendation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/2008\/05\/14\/psd-slicing-service-recommendation\/","title":{"rendered":"PSD slicing service recommendation"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p><em>This is a follow-up to my recent post &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/2008\/05\/05\/mostslicedcom-summary-picking-psd-slicing-company\/\">MostSliced.com summary &#8211; picking PSD slicing company<\/a>&#8220;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Once the choices for the PSD slicing service were established, I did the next step &#8211; actual order.\u00a0 I started from the top of my list, which happened to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xhtmlmaster.com\">xHTML Master<\/a>.\u00a0 I sent them the order through the form on their web site and got a pretty fast response apologizing for the fact that they were too busy to undertake my order.\u00a0 No problem.\u00a0 Good that they notified me in a timely manner.\u00a0 So, I went to the next choice &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psdslicing.com\">PSD Slicing<\/a>.\u00a0 Again, submitted the design and went into the waiting mode.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty soon I received an email letting me know that the order is OK and that they can start on Monday (next working day) and finish it by Wednesday (two pages, with one of them being a rather complex design).\u00a0 The timing was well within my limits.\u00a0 I sent them 50% of the down-payment and started waiting again.\u00a0 Today, on Tuesday, around lunch time, I got my order back, fully done and finished.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, of course, I was a bit surprised with the speed.\u00a0 I thought it would take them more.\u00a0 When I checked the results I was even more surprised.\u00a0 In short: outstanding job!\u00a0 The images were cut properly, some in PNG, some in GIF, some in JPG &#8211; properly chosen each time.\u00a0 The xHTML was small and clean, validated perfectly with XHTML 1.0 Strict (not even Transitional!).\u00a0 DIVs, proper CSS, nicely indented.\u00a0 CSS was also done nicely &#8211; small, simple, and straight-forward.\u00a0 Fully valid.\u00a0 Also, the whole codebase is pretty semantic and, as a bonus, validates with web accessibility standard (Section 508).\u00a0 To say that I was really impressed with the result was to say nothing at all.\u00a0 I was stunned for a few minutes.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a really long time since I saw anything so beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>It was so good that I couldn&#8217;t believe it.\u00a0 So I thought maybe it will break in one of the major browsers.\u00a0 Then my attention was caught by something else in that email message that they sent me.\u00a0 It was a link to <a title=\"Test your web design in different browsers\" href=\"http:\/\/browsershots.org\/\">BrowserShots.org<\/a> , which is the web service that can show you how your web site looks in a whole lot of browsers.\u00a0 PSD Slicing provided me with the link to the screenshots of their results in all major browsers that I cared about!<\/p>\n<p>After checking that code back and forth, the only suggestion I could come up with is &#8230; comments.\u00a0 They aren&#8217;t required or anything, since the whole CSS and xHTML files are very small (something around 6-10 KBytes), but still it would have been nice to have some comments, especially in CSS.<\/p>\n<p>Am I satisfied with their service?\u00a0 You bet I am.\u00a0 Will I ever recommend it?\u00a0 Yes, of course.\u00a0 I&#8217;m doing it already.\u00a0 Is it worth the money (around $120\/page)?
