Overview."},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>I am back from my trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands.\u00a0 It was as good as I expected and sometimes even better.\u00a0 I really enjoyed my time over there, met a quite a few interesting people, established a few useful relationships, saw some interesting technologies, photographed a beautiful city, tasted some nice beers, and more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3101\/2394311498_6e7f609994.jpg?resize=500%2C264\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I brought back a few hundred photos, which took me a few hours to sort through.\u00a0 Now that I am done there are just <a title=\"The Next Web Conference 2008 (Amsterdam, Netherlands)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mamchenkov\/sets\/72157604418574019\/\">over a hundred pictures<\/a> which I hope you will enjoy once they are all uploaded.\u00a0 I also have quite a few posts backlogged. They are mostly in a form of notes right now, so I&#8217;ll need to expand them a bit and will publish in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Just to give you a few highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amsterdam is a beautiful city.\u00a0 I hope I will have a chance to visit it again.<\/li>\n<li>I didn&#8217;t manage to visit a coffee shop, red lights district, or any of the recommended restaurants.\u00a0 I was having enough fun without following any of recommendations.\u00a0 Probably will do so next time.<\/li>\n<li>People over there are tall indeed.\u00a0 Very tall.<\/li>\n<li>People over there ride bicycles even when it is cold and raining.\u00a0 The city infrastructure is very supportive of cyclists, but I need to read some more about their traditions and history, because current bicycle penetration in the population is much deeper than just city infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>I haven&#8217;t seen any cops on the streets.\u00a0 Not even traffic police.<\/li>\n<li>There is lots of fighting with tobacco smoking.\u00a0 Many places (like my hotel for example) completely ban smoking and don&#8217;t even have places for smoking.\u00a0 Very nice.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ll need to write a separate post about trains.<\/li>\n<li>It was interesting to see canals and so much water transport in operation.<\/li>\n<li>The conference was a success.\u00a0 I met a few interesting people, saw some useful technologies, and brought back a few thoughts on how things should move on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you can see, there is a lot to post about.\u00a0 Stay tuned.<\/p>\n<!-- google_ad_section_end -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>I am back from my trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands.\u00a0 It was as good as I expected and sometimes even better.\u00a0 I really enjoyed my time over there, met a quite a few interesting people, established a few useful relationships, saw some interesting technologies, photographed a beautiful city, tasted some nice beers, and more.
