The <a  href=\"http:\/\/hardware.slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=06\/08\/16\/1225239&#038;from=rss\">war on Caps Lock key<\/a> though is one that I am easily joining.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>How am I going to explain to my kids why some of the most valuable keyboard real estate is squatted by a large, useless key that above all you must not press!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image10371\" class=\"centered\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mamchenkov.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/no_caps_lock.png?w=660&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"No Caps Lock Key\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Caps Lock is indeed one of the most useless keys on the keyboard.  TYPING IN ALL CAPS LOCK IS A REALLY REALLY BAD TONE.  It&#8217;s hard to read &#8211; you see, lowercase letters have different hight (&#8220;t&#8221; and &#8220;d&#8221; are high, &#8220;p&#8221; and &#8220;j&#8221; are low), which makes it much easier on your eyes to read, while in uppercase all letters have the same hight.<\/p>\n<p>For those times when you need to type in an uppercase letter &#8211; say someone&#8217;s name, or at the beginning of the sentence &#8211; you can use Shift key.  <\/p>\n<p>Homework for you guys: study your keyboard carefully, and report which other keys you don&#8217;t use at all, or you so rarely that you won&#8217;t mind not having a dedicated keyboard position for it.<\/p>\n<!-- google_ad_section_end -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start -->\n<p>Being an almost true pacifist, I don&#8217;t support that many wars.
