I also mentioned that suspend-to-RAM wasn&#8217;t working properly for me.<\/p>\n<p>Well, guess what?  <a href=\"http:\/\/jean.hausser.org\/\">Jean<\/a> passed by and left a comment with a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/jean.hausser.org\/comments\/215\">this article<\/a>.  Less than two minutes later I successfully tested suspend-to-RAM.  Jean&#8217;s article is for Debian.  Things are slightly different in Fedora.  Here is what I had to do.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install <code>acpid<\/code> RPM (it was already installed on my laptop, but I thought I&#8217;d mention it anyway)<\/li>\n<li>Delete or rename <code>\/etc\/acpi\/events\/sample.conf<\/code> file. (it defines the shutdown action on power button)<\/li>\n<li>Restart acpid service by running <code>service acpid restart<\/code> as user root.<\/li>\n<li>In KDE&#8217;s Control Center enable Suspend from the Power Control, Laptop Battery section.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You&#8217;re done!  Now all you need to do is right-click on the battery monitor applet in KDE and choose Suspend action.  The laptop will fall asleep immediately.
