Bewitched” is one of those films that you enjoy watching, but don’t appreciate too much afterwards. It is very easy going, with nice humor, very good acting, but very empty and pointless on the other hand.

I might sound very sexist when I say it, but there is something about women making romantic movies – it just doesn’t work. As much as I hate to generalize in this way, I can’t ignore the trend – every romance film directed by a woman that I saw – sucked. No exceptions. Please, prove me wrong.

Oh, and I don’t mean that men are perfect in romantic films. No. Many of them suck too. But at least a few can do a proper job. Maybe this has something to do that there are more men directors than women directors. Maybe.

Anyway, coming back to the movie. What I really enjoyed about it was the casting and their excellent performance. It is pretty difficult to imagine Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell in the same film, let alone as a lovely couple. And if those two were not enough, Michael Caine was added to spice things up. And all three of them were great. Each one brought the best of his or hers world into this film. A kind of weird mix, but worked out pretty good.

If you are in the mood for an easy going film with a few smiles and some magic to it, rent this one. Don’t buy it though, unless you are a diehard fan of either one of the three main actors.
