Vera Drake (2004)I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback about “Vera Drake“. Accidentaly I’ve got my hands on a copy of this film, so I watched it.

Directed by: Mike Leigh
Genres: Drama
Cast: Imelda Staunton, Richard Graham, Eddie Marsan, Anna Keaveney, Alex Kelly, Daniel Mays, Philip Davis, Lesley Manville, Sally Hawkins, Simon Chandler, Sam Troughton, Marion Bailey, Sandra Voe, Chris O’Dowd, Adrian Scarborough
IMDB raintg: 8.0
My rating: 4.0 [rate 4.0]

I have to say that this film is way too overrated. It is very simple, predictable and obvious. It doesn’t make any brilliant points or brings up any serious issues. The moral is simple – if you break the law, be prepared to be punished. And in the most unfortunate of times. The moral values change and sometimes those things that were illegal and bad become legal and acceptable. But as long as you are breaking the law, you should be ready for the punishment. It does not always come. And sometimes the law gets changed instead. But still, these are mostly exceptions.
