Ed Wood

Ed Wood” has been the first movie on my wishlist for more than two years now. None of the local DVD rentals had it. I couldn’t find it in the shops. And I haven’t seen any trace of it online. That all was very surprising considering a high rating of this film at IMDB. Finally I managed to get my hands on the copy of the film.

Directed by: Tim Burton
Genres: Biography, Comedy, Drama
Cast: Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, Patricia Arquette, Jeffrey Jones, G.D. Spradlin, Vincent D’Onofrio, Bill Murray, Mike Starr, Max Casella, Brent Hinkley, Lisa Marie, George ‘The Animal’ Steele, Juliet Landau, Clive Rosengren
IMDB raintg: 8.0
My rating: 6.0 [rate 6.0]

Ed Wood” is a good movie which I didn’t like. It’s just not for my taste. Non-the-less, this is an original piece with some outstanding acting in. Johnny Depp is unrecognizable, but as good as always and Martin Landau was great too.

Although the film was released in 1994, it was comletely done in black-and-white which I think worked nicely there. The film is about old times and black-and-white added good sense of the past. Actually, it was rather hard to imagine that the film was made in the 90-ies. Everything looked and felt old.

I would appreciate more pace for the movie and a different ending. Something less optimistic could have worked better I guess.
