Daily Prompt: No, Thanks

The Daily Post asks the question:

Is there a place in the world you never want to visit? Where, and why not?

Being genuinely open to travel opportunities, I was surprised how quickly my brain came up with an answer – Burma. Why?  Because I’ve seen Rambo.  And before you scream at me for it just being a movie, read a bit further – Wikipedia page for Rambo movie, and Wikipedia page for Burmese anti-government protests.

  1. Is it the conditions that the people live in that put you off? Or is it because it is dangerous? Or perhaps all of it? There is a place near to where I live that is considered dangerous by reputation and also by statistical evidence. I have seen some crazy people there and been personally attacked, and yet I go there frequently because it is familiar and therefore somehow less intimidating.

    1. Hi. Mostly, it’s the danger part. I also am familiar with dangerous areas of some cities – both in personal experience and via statistical evidence. But all those places that I know of, don’t come even close to what I know of situation in Burma. Walking through the dark valleys where you can get mugged is one thing. Walking around mine fields with bullets flying over your head is a total other. I guess. Gladly, I never had to walk on mine fields. And hopefully I never will.
