Congratulations, Sanjay!

I’ve got an email today from my blogosphere fellow friend Sanjay. He hasn’t posted any updates to his website recently, but he has all the reasons in the world. Today, he got engaged to a really beautiful woman Vijetha. Boy, do they look nice together! (Yes, he sent me the picture, but I’m not posting it here. Yet.)

I am a very frequent happy birthday wisher. But engagements – they don’t happen so often. Not around me, at least. To have a birthday, all it takes is to live through one year of your life. But to get to an engagement – that’s a long road. It takes some people longer than they live.

Needless to say, I’m glad to hear the good news! Sanjay and Vijetha – you guys have fun! Enjoy it! My best wishes to you two, and to both your families.

Sanjay engagement

P.S.: Since I have the permission now, I’ve posted the picture as well.

  1. wow Leonid this is really a surprise – thanks a lot for the wishes! :) I don’t know how to announce it and I don’t want to put up her picture on the net – I’m not very sure if she’s comfortable with publicity and all so that’s why I won’t even be mentioning her name publicly (for now atleast) :D

  2. also it makes me realise I’m a timid guy when it comes to such things and I’m finding myself in a very awkward situation, most of my friends don’t know about it at all!

  3. I’m finding myself in a very awkward situation

Was not wrt your blog post but about me getting engaged in general – because I’m one of the last of the bachelors in my circle of friends 8)

Its quite an honor to have a post for me actually ;) btw I asked her and she said its ok for you to put the picture as well though at your own risk – any picture of me might bring down your website rating or something :D

  4. I asked her and she said its ok for you to put the picture

Yey! Thanks. I’ve got it uploaded too now. I cropped it a bit though – to fit the page width. ;)

Hmm… You made me double check the header image of the blog. For a second I thought that my face wasn’t there anymore. Nope. It’s right there. Scaring away all non-blind people. :)

  5. THANK YOU Leonid! :D The Pro account was a real unbelievable surprise – I never imagined someone from across the globe whom I’ve never met would be gifting something! Very very timely as well, since it turns out that the free account only allows 3 photosets  (apart from other restrictions like bandwidth etc).

As I use it I’m getting more and more impressed with flickr! :)

  6. THANK YOU Leonid!

    You’re welcome. ;)

I never imagined someone from across the globe whom I’ve never met would be gifting something!

As I upload thousands upon thousands of my images, I have this thought at the back of my mind – “What if they go out and disappear?”. Although I understand that the chances of this happening are pretty slim, as they’ve managed to create something really needed, cool, and financially feasable at the same time. But still I have to do something about making sure that they stay. Getting a few Pro accounts seemed like a good idea. ;)

Good thing that they made those Gift options available.

I’m glad to hear that. :) That means my present won’t be tossed into the darkest corner of the farmost closet. ;)

  7. oh I’ve uploaded a lot of photos already! Its just unbelievable, I just right click on a bunch of them in Windows explorer and say “Send to Flickr…” and on top of it chose the photoset or create a new one! Man it just can’t get simpler and beautiful than that! Now that I’ve got the hang of it I’m stopping to step back and wonder about my approach or organising them. I think I better rethink and figure out a more systematic way of doing it, maybe something along the lines of your flickr saga.

  8. it just can’t get simpler and beautiful than that!

Hehe. Maybe it can, but noone cares, as this is good enough. :)

    my approach or organising them

Tag the hell out of them – you’ll easily find them later. By the way, check the Organizer thing in Flickr. With it you can find pictures by tag, name, description, date taken, date posted, set, etc. There’s just no way to miss anything anymore. :)

  9. yeah the most amazing thing is the calendar – where it shows everything sorted by dates – and esp the date the picture was taken (by looking into exif data)

Btw the first column of characters in the view here is getting truncated. I’m currently using an IE based browser (Maxthon) though I switch between that and Firefox.
