Red Hat buy JBoss

Posted in All on April 10th, 2006 · 2 Comments

It’s been a long while since I linked to technology news. The day has come though. The big news are - Red Hat is buying JBoss. Not many people saw this one coming. But many people get excited over it.

I have to say that, although I am not big fan of Java, this was a really smart move on Red Hat’s behalf. Java is well overhyped right now and there are a lot of possibilities to make money in that area. Plus, with JBoss come all the buzz words you even wanted to here, and now they are all automagically associated with Red Hat. This will surely add credibility to Open Source Software in general, and Linux in particular. And that is good.

Anyway, if you want to learn more, head on and read all the discusions at both Slashdot entry and digg post.

The only advantage it brings for me is that now it will be easier to convince management to switch app server vendors :)

    Heh… You’re all set then.

It will be easier for me to convince some people to try Linux. :)
