Kinsey

Kinsey (2004)I wanted to see “Kinsey” for some time now. I heard that it was a movie about a scientist who did the biggest study of human sexuality back in the middle of the last century. The study was so huge and complete that it is often found in the use even these days.

Directed by: Bill Condon
Genres: Drama
Cast: Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Chris O’Donnell, Peter Sarsgaard, Timothy Hutton, John Lithgow, Tim Curry, Oliver Platt, Dylan Baker, Julianne Nicholson, William Sadler, John McMartin, Veronica Cartwright, Kathleen Chalfant, Heather Goldenhersh
IMDB raintg: 7.6
My rating: 6.5 [rate 6.5]

The film turned out to be much weaker than it could have been. It just tells the story. Plain and simple. It also suggests that there was a lot of drama and a lot of fun, but it fails to delivery any. There are many loose ends and some started storylines that never finish or even get developed.

Acting was good, but it was setbacked by the make-up. There are a few people that are displayed over a span of few decased during the film. There’s little to know visual change happening to them, which is surprising and annoying.

Overall, this movie reminds a lot about “A Beautiful Mind“, which came out three years earlier, and which is a much stronger drama.

In any way, I still recommend watching “Kinsey” as it provides some food for thought on the subjects of sociology, sexuality, moral values, and marriage and family.
