Cyprus as it was in 1879

I’ve stambled upon an interesting book at Project Gutenberg. The book is called “Cyprus. As I Saw It In 1879” and it is written by by Sir Samuel White Baker.

Those who don’t like reading books, can imagine this text as a blog of this Samuel White Baker guy. It is an good set of travelling notes, that includes descriptions of the places and people, notes on politics and economy, as well as observations and statistics.

Here is an interesting statistical sample from the first quarter of the book:
